Welcome to official web site of your Sheriff's Office.

Dear Fellow Citizen,

As Van Zandt County continues to grow, the responsibilities of county law enforcement continue to play a greater role in protecting the citizens and their property. The duties of this Office are varied, and arresting and detaining criminals are only two areas included in the wide array of assignments entrusted to the Office,Sheriff R.P. "Pat" Burnett, Jr. though they are perhaps the most apparent. Crime prevention, community education and interaction, emergency dispatch, and service in every sector of our operation are several aspects of law enforcement that are often overlooked in the day-to-day activity of your Sheriff’s Office. It is your Office both as citizens of this county and because it is your tax dollars that fund it. Maintaining the Office at a level expected by the residents requires that we seek to do this with increased efficiency in the use of those tax dollars.

Since taking office, I have promoted the continual improvement of the service and function of the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office and Justice Center, while maintaining a minimal expense. It is my goal to continue to offer the citizens the level of response and attention to their concerns that they expect out of a quality law enforcement agency.

That is the purpose of this website - keeping you informed of our activities and continuous improvement of your Sheriff’s Office. It will highlight the accomplishments of this administration’s efforts to keep the citizens of Van Zandt County and their property safe, as well as the many other services and duties we fulfill.

"The world is a dangerous place to live in, not because of the people that do evil; but because of the people that stand by and let them do it."

-- Albert Einstein

Your Sheriff,

R.P. "Pat" Burnett, Jr.
